Sorry Fish-mommy

First of all, I have nothing against people eating fish(or eating anything for that matter). I myself do not eat fish or meat or chicken, but I do not mind other people doing it. But that's not the point. today we all went for trekking. and near that place, there was a lake. when we came back , we saw many people were sitting there or rather waiting there with their fishing hook in the water. My daughter has not seen this till now, well from such close distance. So, when she went near water she saw few fishes were caught but still in the water. she went and asked one of the fishermen. he explained her that when they will go home they will take them out. They(people) like it fresh. till this point, my daughter was fine. she went more near and noticed that those fishes were trying to escape from that hook. and suddenly out of no where she started crying. I got little confused but I thought she must be feeling sad for fish. She is quite sensitive when anything happens to (any) animals. After few minutes she got back to her normal and stopped crying, I asked her. And when she answered , she got tears in my eyes. She said fish's mommy must be feeling so sad, somebody should tell their mommy. I felt sad that she is feeling sad and I started giving all explanation(how it is important to balance nature and blah blah.....). I was talking and in two minutes, I realized she already knows that all. she heard it from me, learnt it at school, must have read in a book. Yet its her age, her innocence made her forget all that theory. It was a connection to her heart. and I stopped talking, how can I? Kids are so true and so real.  They are Angels.

Adrian Monk

My daughter's favorite , the most favorite, program is Monk. When she was small kid, we used to watch Curious George or Clifford (I still watch those cartoons, I like George more though) :) . Now she is (kinda) big girl, she likes to watch (non-cartoon) tv-series. And Monk is the best, that what she thinks. I find it good too, but ones you know the solved-mystery then its not that fun.

Anyways, from season 3 onwards it became better. Natalie is good. and her relation with Mr. Monk is good too. She respects her boss, admires his intelligence, cope up with his strange(little crazy) world and yet maintains her normal self. we like to watch Randy and Captain too. Randy makes you laugh and sometimes makes you wonder if police can be really so foolish. And offcourse Dr. Kroger , my daughter calls him आ जो बा (grandpa), what a genuine doctor for Mr. Monk. And so is Dr. Bell, he fits the profile perfectly. and another important character is Julie. I remember she was a small kid in her first episode and with years (and with Monk seasons) ,she has become a beautiful college girl.

We like all the episodes(except season I and II). it will be difficult for me to select one particular. but my husband's favorite episode is "Mr. Monk and the kid". My daughter's favorite is "Mr. Monk goes to Dentist".

They made 8 seasons but I wish they would have made 10. well, that's a round number like ten ice cubes or ten pizza slices. that's what Mr. Monk would have done. :)

Happy Thanksgiving Mr. Monk. We are thankful to have you on tv(or on DVDs).

Hello, I am still here

What happens when somebody ignores you? may be unintentionally, but it still hurts. There is one person from my workplace, lets say P1. so, P1 always ignores me as if I am not there. when it comes to discuss about work , P1 is very informative and chatty, loves to discuss all scenarios, likes to listen all ideas. but when it is about something else like sharing food or talking about traffic out side, I am totally invisible. Last week there was lots of free food for everybody, yummy muffins & cakes & fruits. P1 told my left neighbor, my right neighbor, my front lady and lady who sits three cubicles in front. BUT not a single word to me. I guess, I became invisible for few seconds. I was not really hungry but its fun to go to cafeteria(once a while). I was sitting there, getting angry, feeling hurt(BTW, invisible people also have feelings). then one thing happened. our(mine and P1's) other team-member told me, specially about vegan food too. and suddenly P1 was all sorry. "oh oh I should have told you. I am sorry. " and blah blah
(I know it will get repeated again as this was not first time.)
I had food with me and I was not that hungry, but what bothers me is P1 forgets (always) I am sitting in next seat.
Anyways, we cant change everything or everybody(and some people are always..........)

Thanksgiving is next week. Hope everybody will be thankful about something they did or they did not.........

Its been many many years and yet....

Something happened few days back and I found it funny(little), yet made me think about few things.

One of my colleagues(when he was happily munching on Diwali snacks made by me) asked me if indian food needs 4-5 hours per day to get cooked. He couldn't ask me whole question in one stretch because he was busy selecting between laddo and burfi.

I thought it was a funny but I couldn't laugh. I mean, why such (wrong)curiosity? I myself am here in USA for last 9 years and I know(for sure) that  many indian people were here before. Each and every(again almost every) small village has at least one indian restaurant, where main audience will be non-indian. and then there are so many websites about indian recipes. and off course lots of Asian shops carry indian food items.

It made me more confused that how can you ask such ignorant question. India is not an alien place(anymore). you can see indian faces everywhere, in offices, in shops, in schools, in clinics even on TV.  and yet some people think......

and its not only about cooking time. there were many more questions like why do you put red dot on forehead. Actually, this used to be my favorite question but that was when asked by small kids from elementary school. When my colleague asked me, I said part of my make up.

It made me realize that though  the world has become a smaller place or (more specific)internet has made the world a smaller place,  you cant ask everything to google. well, Google is not an indian married woman who (btw) cooks and shares her lunch with her colleagues.
